On March 31st, 2018, Councilman Rene Spring of Morgan Hill inaugurated the NCAA Youth Cricket League at Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Center, 16500 Condit Rd, Morgan Hill, CA 95037.  The league is the second regional inter-program league in the nation.  Councilman Spring bowled the first delivery and also showcased his batting talent by hitting a ball to the mid-wicket area.

The event was hosted by Prem Suri from Silicon Valley Cricket, who provided two cricket fields to conduct the NCCA youth league games.  NCCA Vice President Biju Nair narrated his vision for building a pathway for young cricketers in Bay Area through this youth league.  Councilman Spring addressed the young cricketers and promised his city's support for the sport.

Bay Area's cricket programs were represented by Suraj Viswanathan (President - Bay Area Cricket Association President), Gopi Sirineni (Vice President - San Ramon Cricket Association Youth), Ramesh Immadi (Chairman - SRCA Youth), Raghu Barooda (Coach - Cricket Zeal Academy), Venkatesh Subramanian and Virendra Swar (East Bay Youth Cricket Association) and Mihir Jariwala (Representative - California Cricket Academy).  The games were officiated Barry Manogaran, Tamim Khan, Partha Patel, Kaushik, Vijay Goel and Arnab who are certified umpires for the NCCA league.

What followed was extremely competitive with Skanda Rohit Sharma from SRCA scoring a double century (205) in the U15 category in the first game.  U11 witnessed two nailbiting games as well.

"Six youth academies are participating and around 300 unique players will be playing in this league," Mr. Nair said, reiterating that this will be a year-round league to help provide a neutral platform for youngsters to play and perform in their age group.  "There are 600 plus youth players who are 15 years or younger playing every weekend," Mr. Nair said.
